Maria Clotilde Almeida

Position or Role

Maria Clotilde Almeida holds a PhD in Linguistics (University of Lisbon) since 1997. Since 1982, she has dedicated herself to lecturing discourse-oriented graduate courses and post-graduate seminars in Linguistics, Translation, Culture and Cognition, and Communication and Culture at the University of Lisbon and other European and Asian universities. She is an integrated researcher of the Centro de Linguistica da Universidade de Lisboa (RI for the research project – “Climate Emergency”: frames and metaphors). Her research domains are Metaphor in Discourse, Metaphor and Gesture in Hip-Hop videoclips, and Multimodal Metaphor in sports newspaper covers, political panels, illustrated books, advertising and artworks.
